WOW! LITERARY WHIPLASH!!! TERRRRIFIC!!!!

i loved this book!!! talk about amazing shocks...wellllll, this book reallly has at least 6 good ones that'll get you! there was never a dull moment in this entire book....i could not put it down! when does his next one come out?? soooon, i hope!!! now i've gotta find 'loverboy' fast!!! thanx for a real old fashioned who-dunnit that had me guessing alllllllll the way to the end!!!

A very good second novel

After reading his first novel, Lover Boy, I was really positively surprised. So I knew what to expect this time and was not disappointed at all.The mystery for me is why Belsky has the main protagonists he has. Did I find it rather difficult to like Lucy in Lover Boy, the newspaperman, Joe Dougherty in this novel is downright despicable. A completely self-centered individual who drops people at a whim, has no sense of allegiance or principle and sees people only as instruments to use in his story. In particular the careless way he deals with some of his "resources" is disgusting. This is in no way a criticism on Belsky. He has developed this character very well and it is part of this wonderfully fast pace novel. The plot again is full of twists and, indeed like most of the other commentators write, it keeps you guessing until the very end.Well done and to be recommended to everyone who wants "to escape" for a couple of hours.

Belsky hits another homerun! When does the movie come out?

Another "can't put it down" offering from R.G. Belsky. A fine story teller in the classical sense. PLAYING DEAD is a keeper! Looking forward to more from this author.

A must read for thriller fans.

A riveting thriller about a serial killer who dies, but leaves behind a baffling list of new murders which are still happening. The mystery takes newspaper reporter Joe Dougherty down a tangled trail filled with breathtaking plot twists, memorable characters and a truly shocking ending. The first few pages of PLAYING DEAD might be the most compelling opening to a suspense novel that I've ever read. And it never stops - the chapters are short, the writing crisp and the pace of the plot breakneck. If you're a fan of Michael Connelly or Lawrence Block, you should definitely try PLAYING DEAD. I loved it!

OUTSTANDING

Welcome back Mr. Belsky. It has been a few months since I have read a novel that I "couldn't put down." I found myself reading far into the a.m. I had read "LOVER", which I thoroughly enjoyed, and looked forward to the next novel by Belsky. He has done it again with terrific characters and absolute grand plotting. It kept me guessing until Chapter 69 (what, 10 pages from the end) on who the last "pretender" was. Belsky definately has a talent on writing mysteries and should have been in print long before "LOVER." Anxiously awaiting the next novel. A definate fan here.
