Incredible Read! When is her Third book coming out??

Elaine Meryl Brown's "Playing By the Rules" is the kind of book that doesn't come around very often. An excellent read- it's light and incredibly funny, but maintains a gripping plot that will keep you glued to the pages right from the mysterious prologue. Brown has also managed to create characters that are so realistic and human, you'll recognize you're entire family amongst the Dunlap clan. I can't wait to read what happens next in Lemon City. I hope it won't be too long!!

The mysteries of Lemon City continue to unfold as we learn more about the lively characters who live in this fictional town in Virginia...and why trouble keeps turning up where least expected! Fans of the first installment "Lemon City" will be happy to return, and new readers can dive right in without missing a beat. "Playing By the Rules" is a great beach companion -- bring it along and go for the ride! You won't be disappointed!

engaging sequel to a very good first book

Ms. Brown has pulled off a hard task by writing a sequel that is not only as interesting as the first book, but one that answers some questions raised in the first one. The new characters we meet in PBTR are fully developed and charming to the degree that makes one care what happens to them. The known characters we met in the first book are also fleshed out some more so that we can relate to them on a deeper level. PBTR is a good summer read that can be read in an afternoon of sun and leisure--a real test for me. But, it carves a hole in the mind that allows one to ruminate pleasantly about it for weeks to come, which makes it also a very good winter read. One of the things I like best about Ms. Brown's writing is how she lets us enter into an aspect of Black thinking that few white people would ever have the privilege of knowing. I feel as if I have truy visited a place called Lemon City and been allowed to have an indepth conversation with the inhabitants. JS Flowers
