Finding the Call through a Remarkable Journey

It has been 7 years now since I read this autobiography-novel of Rev. Kenneth J. Roberts. I was in the seminary when i first read it particularly when I happened to bump this book while researching for my project paper topic. First of all, the title is really intriguing...one may wonder, how could a playboy be turned into priest? Actually, there's no malice with what the title says about but it really captures your attention, doesn't it? Then I sat on a comfy sofa of our library then page by page I turned my eyes upon every pages of the book and little did I know that i was enjoying myself reading it and unknowingly that time passes me by that I have to do my project paper! That's the eefect that bought me when I enjoyed reading a few good books like the 'Playboy to Priest'. Anyway, enough of my personal encounter with this book. 'Playboy to Priest' is an enjoyable reading experience embarking the journey of Fr. Ken to priesthood. His life was not so much far from our lives are. Just like us, he has several fond memories of his lives that touches the essentiality of what life is. The struggles of Fr. Ken to find the disposition of his life should be an important lesson to learn: to where we are happy then grab it..it only comes ONCE in a lifetime. His vocation is firmly solidify by the experiences he encountered, i.e., being in the ship as one of the personnels with so much glories that has to offer for him but he wasn't blinded by all these things. One thing for sure is that, he has his compass and that he might not get lost to where he is navigating. He did not give up to be a priest but he let life to flow within his self. Let the fate takes its course but never strangled his will to be a servant of God. Firmness and strong conviction were the values imparted for us by Fr. Ken. It's not too late to hear our true calling...either being a priest, nun or a lay. Whatever the things that make us happy, we should prosper and love it. This is where our personality grows from within..if we love the vocation we are called for...we are then truly be called a human being fully grown in our own humane conviction.

Inspirational Autobiography

Not a long novel by any means, but filled with humour, adventure and feeling. Father Kenneth Roberts squeezed more in his first 30 years than I will in my lifetime and yet still felt he had only just touched on what he had to offer the world. Real life tragedy touched his life on a regular basis and although he had the only too human quality of anger and 'Why me', he overcame each with a strength to be admired. The cornerstone to his destiny was his Mother, a true believer to the end. Read this book and be inspired. I am not a religious person by any means and it has made me look on life with a different outlook.

An account of a man's conflict/struggle to serve God

This book is a personal account of a man's life and struggle to become what he should be. It deals with his personal struggle with life, his aspirations, his seeking to find the man he should become and the external draws that life lends to steer a soul away from a good path. All of us can relate to this man's struggles in some part of the book. The people are real and their lives afffected eveyone around them. Something we all should take into account when we deal with each soul we meet everyday. Read it and then examine your life to see if you can be more than you are to the people of the world and for the God that created us.

a truly inspirational book. Father Ken Roberts is the best.

This book was so good, I could not put it down. I thank God everyday for the Father Ken Roberts of this world. He is a truly inspirational person. What a saint he had for a mother, she is the example that our own Blessed Mother in heaven would want all mothers to be like. God bless you Father Ken Roberts.
