A makeup artist reveals the tricks of her trade, providing instruction in makeup techniques that give the appearance of reducing nose size, plumping lips, lifting eyes, and enlarging breasts.
I had the opportunity to attend a lecture/demonstration by Ms. Pearl at the International Makeup Artist Trade Show in Pasadena a few years back. She is an amazing artist and has lots to offer. While her methods echo methods found in other artists' books, I was pleased to see someone finally compile these techniques in an easy to follow format specifically for people considering plastic surgery. Ms. Pearl not only describes methods for disguising flaws; she also outlines the risks and costs associated with the surgical option. As a makeup artist living in Los Angeles, I can't tell you how many people I have encountered who are suffering severe complications (and in some cases, disfigurements) from their elective surgeries - surgeries they didn't really need. You can accomplish so much with makeup; I would encourage anyone considering surgery to try makeup first. Many of the reviewers have expressed concerns about "caking" too much makeup on. In some instances that's necessary (tattoo cover, raised freckles), but in most cases you don't have to cake it on as long as you put the right product in the right place, and blend it well. Good luck!

This book is a really great book. The author teaches you to hide many different imperfections on your face and body. It helped me to be able hide the bump on my nose that is there because I broke my nose. I think that any one who considers getting plastic surgery should read this book. The author allows your to alter your appearance without all the costly mess. I love how the author uses everyday, ordinary people in the book. She never uses a girl whose is the picture of perfection, But when she is done, the ordinary girls look like the picture of perfection. I think the techniques are simple to learn and she shares great advice on makeup products.

This book is really good.. First thing that impress about this book the people that are in it are not just beautiful young models. There is a wide range of people with different ages.. young - middle age - mature..( Pearl has her neice and her mother and mother inlaw in this book).. and different races too (White, Black and Asian). It is the first makeup book I have ever seen that deals with problems that mature faces have.. sunken areas under the eyes, lines, bleeding lipstick... The colour corrective and shading technique were very interesting.. Although I am in my early 30's.. I do have darkish circles underneath my eyes.. and red patches of skin on my face.. using her colour corrective techniques made a big difference.. I can hide these now if I whish too... Ceelly

This book was a life saver. It pinpointed every single little thing that I wanted changed on my body. I saved thousands of dollars in plastic surgery and all I did was pick up a make up brush. She talks about make-up tricks to get rid of bags under your eyes, how to hide a double chin, how to make your nose appear smaller and even how to make your breasts look bigger. Every woman should own this book!

FINALLY!!! A book that gives women the tools to create the looks we want without the risks of surgery. this book is great...from removing under eye circles to improving the looks of my bustline...this book was written for everyday women with everyday problems. PLUS, unlike most makeup books, it's really easy to follow the author's step by step processes. AND it's fun to read. FABULOUS! I would recommend this highly to anyone.
