A fun intergalactic romance with a feisty heroine and a duty-bound king

Marcus Blood Axe is the King of Valhalla, a purple planet with a fertility problem that he's expected to solve. Marcus can have any woman he wants on his planet, but women are scarce, so the onus is on him to get one pregnant. Women from villages around the planet offer themselves to him as a gift, for the woman who bears the king a child will become queen, and her village will be honored forever. The pressure of all of this puts a lot of strain on Marcus, who knows his duty, but gets tired of having unwilling maidens thrown at his feet. In fact, Marcus is just leaving the bed of one such maiden when he sees a ship crash into the deserts of Valhalla. He and his men go to inspect the wreckage and ensure that no one is hurt, and what he finds there is a rare prize indeed. Douglass Fraser is a pilot for the United Planetary Parcel Service (UPPS) whose plane crashes on a planet that's off her grid. When Douglass awakes from her crash, she's being pleasured by three men who identify themselves as her servants. They tell her they are there to cater to her every desire and fantasy, that she is to be the king's consort, and that she will be worshiped from that day forth. Of course, this is a lot for Douglass to take in. She's just a simple postal worker who wants to return home to her family and 5-year-old son. But she can't resist the opportunity for a little pleasure at the hands of three such beautiful men. And it doesn't hurt that the king she's promised to is drop dead gorgeous. Douglass figures she'll bide her time while she waits to be rescued, and enjoy all that Valhalla has to offer in the meantime. What she doesn't expect is to be treated as a broodmare, and angry as this makes her with her 21st century ideals, she finds herself falling for Marcus and thinking that it might not be so bad to his queen... Planet Mail is the first story I've read by Kate Pearce, and after reading it I can't wait to pick up the next book in the series (Secured Mail). Pearce has created an interesting world. Women are a dying breed on Valhalla and, as such, are highly coveted. Men are willing to lay down their lives for their sisters, mothers, and daughters because they represent a future that might not be possible. Though he has tried for years to father an heir, Marcus has been unsuccessful as yet and it weighs heavily on him. He knows his duty, but he also wants love. As for Douglass, she's all snappy, independent career woman and she wants none of the overprotective arrogance that Marcus offers. She's pleased to take her pleasure where it's offered, but she wants more than to just be a vessel for his children. Watching these two verbally spar was entertaining to say the least, and the chemistry between them was sizzling. And it goes without saying that Douglass's three male servants added a bit of spice to the plot. This book was fun and entertaining, and I'll be picking up the next book in the series.

Douglass Fraser is a pilot for the United Planetary Parcel Service. Douglass enjoys her job and loves being a mother to her 5-year-old son. On her way back home from delivering parcels she crash lands on Valhalla, a planet inhabited by descendants of the Viking people from earth. While recuperating from her accident she wakes up to find herself being pleasured by four gorgeous males, one of them a king. King Marcus Blood Axe is 35-years-old, unwed and without an heir. His greatest hope is to have a wife and children of his own. One of Marcus' chief concerns is the fact that the people of Valhalla have fertility problems. On Valhalla women are treated with great respect and care as they are the way to bearing children. When she is strong enough Douglass finds herself taking part in a ceremony where she unwittingly becomes the king's consort. With this new post she is expected to serve the king in his bed. And she gets three strapping male servants of her own who see to her every pleasure. And while Douglass begins to enjoy her recovery she also misses her son and the life she had on Earth. She also has problems dealing with the way women are coddled on Valhalla. Everything seems to be going fine until a woman shows up and says that she is carrying Marcus' child. Then Douglass has to fight against the planet's customs and her own jealousy. And Marcus has to battle between what is right for his planet, and what is right for his heart. Planet Mail by Kate Pearce is a hot, sexy read. The book opens with a bang and ends very sweetly. I had a little trouble at first with the fact that the heroine was being pleasured by more than one male, but once I settled into the fact that it was the custom of the planet I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and the telling of it. I found myself "what iffing..." that is to say what would I do if placed in that situation. For me that is a sure sign that a story has drawn me in and taken hold in my imagination. Douglass and Marcus are both strong willed people who fight against their instincts to do what is best for those around them. Each time Douglass stood up to the planet's views on women I found myself cheering. I hope that Ms. Pearce will take us to Valhalla again. There were plenty of characters that would lend themselves to a second story. Especially Sven, who captured my heart as much as the story of Douglass and Marcus did. Planet Mail Courier Douglass Fraser is on the receiving end when she crash lands on an uncharted planet and rescued by King Marcus Blood Axe. Seems the king needs an heir and there is a shortage of fertile females, so Douglass is hidden away in the castle and pampered by three hunks(her personal servants) who prepare her for the king's full service. This is a sexual fantasy I'm sure many would enjoy. The sultry love scenes and humorous dialog makes this a very creative and fantastic story.

PLANET MAIL 2006 ecataromance reviewers choice nominee EURO REVIEWS 5 flags "This book is so hot I suggest several drool rags and a working air conditioner. This futuristic planet and its men are every women's fantasy come true. That is if your fantasies contain true love, sexual excess and muscular men who are sensitive, emotional, and committed to serve your every need...This book was wonderfully written pulling you in and connecting you with not only the characters, but the planet and its plight. I highly recommend this book. "
