Only three years after the stock market crash that was felt around the world, Wichita Falls sponsored a reunion of old-timers that drew some 50,000 visitors. The population of Wichita Falls in 1932 was about 40,000 and the parades and other events drew visitors from far and wide. Not only was it in the middle of an economic depression but the plains were blowing away in terrific dust storms as a result of severe droughts and poor farming practices. These are the words of those pioneers.
