Easy to read and use. A wellspring of information.

I have been teaching Pilates for 18 years, so I know how to relate information to a client, and I can honestly say this book can help anybody find their core muscles and center. Jillian is a master at teaching the Pilates method as one can experience by reading and using this book. Jillian keeps it safe for the beginner, and for those of us that know the method, this book can enhance our ability not only to teach it, but to experience it deeper in our own bodies as well. I refer to it constantly for inspiration and information. Jillian's attention to detail is uncanny!

A GREAT resource for teachers!

As a new teacher, I was finding myself tongue-tied trying to explain the basics of Pilates to new clients who had never done Pilates. Those days are gone, thanks to this wonderful book! Jillian's detailed descriptions and beautiful, sequential photos make it easy for anyone to understand how to do Pilates. I especially love her "BEAM Fundamentals" or pre-Pilates exercises. These preparatory exercises make it very clear how to start building the core strength and stability that are necessary to every single Pilates exercise, whether on the mat or the equipment. I use this book ALL the time, and I recommend it to all of my clients. My own practice has deepened and I am a much better teacher thanks to Jillian's book!

Finally, Pilates well explained!

This book is a wonderful learning tool if you're interested in understanding Pilates deeply. As opposed to a lot of books out there which just list the exercises without going into too much detail, this one takes the time to explain the fundamentals behind the technique so you learn how to do it correctly. It is also very well illustrated, with good and bad versions of form, so you can see what you are suppposed to do clearly. Very good for beginners to learn as well as for Pilates connoisseurs to review and use as a reference book.
