WHAT A NICE LITTLE STORY - WELL DONE!

Piggy and his dad go fishing. I actally had to laugh when I first read this one as it hit so close to home. I have been fishing for over 60 years now, all kinds of fishing, but I must admit that from my first time fishing at the age of three, until now, I still have qualms about baiting a hook with the worm when bait fishing...I simply feel a bit sorry for the worm, not unlike piggy. And like Piggy, I sort of feel for the fish too, even after literally thousands of them being put on the table. The book is well done...a very cute story an the illustrations are great. Piggy acts like the typical child his age going fishing for the first time and dad's reactions are wonderful. Highly recommend this one.

Piggy and Dad Go Fishing

This is such a cute book whether you have a fisherman in your home or not, but if you do have a fishing person in your family it makes the story that much sweeter.

Piggy doesn't seem to be cultivating the right skills!

Frank Remkiewicz's drawings comes from an artist who has loved pigs since childhood and been a long-time fan of Freddy the Pig: his fun drawings in Piggy And Dad Go Fishing hold a hint of Freddy with but a life all their own. From being unable to attach a happy worm to a hook to becoming too restless to catch a fish, Piggy doesn't seem to be cultivating the right skills! Highly recommended!

Fried fresh fish for dinner?

This review first appeared in the "Ephrata (PA) Review." Piggy is excited; he's going fishing with Dad for the first time. They prepare sandwiches, hunt for worms, sit and wait (or squirm impatiently), even catnap! Dad soon sees this will not be just another fishing trip, because, well, little boys have fresh ways of looking at things. Will they end their day with the delicious fried fresh fish Dad is dreaming of? Perhaps not, but lucky are those with dads like Piggy's, who take their cues from their young ones, and go with the flow. They and their children invent their own ways of doing things together. The gentle watercolor and pencil illustrations are good-natured depictions of father and son. Daddy Pig looks relaxed in Hawaiian shirt, floppy hat and glasses. Piggy never removes his bright yellow boots. The illustrator has winsomely captured young boys' body movements and facial expressions.
