Book Overview

Like her mother, Georgia McCoy is an artist, but her dad looks away whenever he sees her with a sketchbook. Sometimes it's hard to remember what it was like when her mother was still alive . . . when they were a family . . . when they were happy. Fantastic!

I literally read this book in one day. Written in a free-style poem form, I found it was extremely easy to zip through the storyline and characters of this book. Although "Pieces of Georgia" wasn't the kind of story that gnaws at your mind like a good one does (even after you are finished with it), it was still a novel that made you think about your life and how it related to Georgia's. I would recommend anyone to buy this book, and I truly believe the moral is even greater than the price! :-)

A nice story...

I'm a teacher and I read this book for possible classroom use. It's a nice story - kind of sad and kind of sweet. I nice tie-in to any of the Wyeth artists and over-scheduled kids.

Stanzalicious

I saw this book in my library's new release section and was attracted to it because of the form of writing-- it's in stanzas. Because of how it's written, it's a pretty quick read, but it's most def. worth it. It's a really cute story with elements not atypical to a preteen/teenage novel, but (refreshingly) not filled with too many cliches or drama.

Review by Muse Enigma(FlyRocker)

Pieces of Georgia by Jen Bryant was an interesting book. It is fasinating when it talks about the Wyeths paintings. In addtion, I thought it was interesting how the girl delt with her problems in life. I would recomand this book to anybody ESP. for people who feel like life is horrible.
