A Clear View of Unheralded American Heroes

Pieces from My Mind provides a close-up, first hand look at the life and times of one of a group of hardworking, heroic Americans few of us have ever heard of. I especially appreciated the fact it was not just a "blood and guts", "damn the torpedoes" WWII tome. The first chapters explain the development of the author's character, which become apparent later in the book. I truly enjoyed the book and found it an informative and sensitive story of an African-American man's journey through life.
