This unique book is packed with more than 200 magnificent photos, each expressing the photographer's unique take on a scene or subject. With each image, the artist shares a description of the setting, what inspired the idea, and what the photo was intended to accomplish, along with the technical details - camera and lens used, shutter speed, aperture, and lighting. Stimulate your creativity with these breathtaking landscapes, incredible action shots, heartwarming portraits of people and pets, intriguing close-ups, and more.
Another excellent book in the Photo Workshop series. The book serves as an excellent resource of information to learn more about taking great photos. I liked the fact that most of the photographers were like me; amateurs, students, and individuals all with a common goal of making great photos. The book presented a wide range of different types of photos such as landscape, people, travel, etc. Each photo was presented on a full page with comments from the author and the photographer; and, included the technical data used to achieve the photo. In most cases, the shoot was one of the opportunity presenting itself, or a "sidestep" of what the photographer set out to produce. It was inspiring to know that I too, with more training and experience, can shoot great photos. An added bonus was the listing of websites from many of the photographers where I could go to learn even more. A real keeper of information!
I'm Definitely Inspired

I loved the way this book was published. Photographers contributed their own work for the book and the author reviewed why they were effective photos. The quality of the pages, color and author's reviews are all excellent. I'm learning a lot about how to improve my photos. I highly recommend this book. It has something for every one. Buy it. You won't regret it. There are five other books in the Photo Workshop series.
Entertaining and full of 'secrets of the pros'

"Photos that Inspire" is the sixth and (for now) final book in the series, and the third that I've reviewed. Unlike the others I've read, this volume is more of a desert-after-the-meal book. Instead of being organized as a tutorial on one facet of photography, such as composition or exposure, that takes the reader from begging to end; this book provides a couple hundred examples of good photos in many different genres. Each entry is one page in length and includes a high resolution image taken by a different photographer; an entry by the author about what the photo has to teach the reader; a comment paragraph by the artist discussing the thought process when the image was made; and technical data such as ISO, film speed, aperture, etc. "Photos that Inspire" is one part coffee-table book and one part how-to. The author, Lynne Eodice, is the online editor for Double Exposure, the web-based newsletter for Photo Workshop. Before the Wiley series was introduced, the only way to access these photo classes was to enroll in a membership with Photo Workshop. This book will entertain, but more importantly, it gives you the 'secrets of the trade' from the perspective of hundreds of photographers. I loved it! It is not, however an indexed reference or a course unto itself. Rating five of five.
Lots of great ideas here!

I've enjoyed the entire Photo Workshop series, and found this to be one of the best. I use the exercises as idea starters that often lead me in directions that are much different from what the author intended -- but I guess that's the idea. This book was especially valuable in coming up with new ways of shooting landscapes. Thank you!
Can't believe how beautiful this book is

I am the editor of this book, but also a beginning photographer myself. I just about cried when this came from the printer. It's so beautiful and so inspiring. All of the hard work that went into this was worth it. The contributors to this book are a mix of amateur and professional photographers who gave us some of their favorite images and revealed the emotional as well as the technical details about their photographs. I am reading pages of this book every evening. I love it and I hope you will, too.
