Very intense romance!

Having read about Rand in Nicholas's story, I guess I expected him to be a little bit more honorable. Oh, I know he was a rake and so determined not to marry. Caitlin comes along and becuz she is American he assumes, quite rightly that he can get her into his bed without the commitment. They both are totally in lust with each other. I have not problem with any of that. She is committed to her father and his research, Rand is committed to being independent. She then leaves England and Rand lets her go. Fortunately he does learn she is with child. He goes after her and manages to convince her they should marry. Wow, what could possibly go wrong after this? Of course heartache and sadness just seems to be with this couple. And the way they deal with it I guess is where I found disappointing with Rand. Up until that point he was pretty much a stand up guy. But going back to his mistress was just so disappointing for me and of course when Caitlin finds out she is devisated. This book is at its most intense then and you really wonder how it can ever resolve itself. Of course Caitlin rejoins her father in the jungle a broken woman. Rand just continues to wallow for a long time in self pity. Another trait I did not expect from him. However eventually Nicholas gets him back on track to go after the woman he loves. Caitlin is not happy at all that he has returned and fights him every step of the way. Well, until he puts his life on the line for her. I guess that was finally enough to convince her that he really did love her. The sub plot of the dangerous Tallmadge taking over the exhibition is a good one. The element of danger is felt and that always hightens a good romance. I was glad this one worked out. Very emotional in certain parts. Well done by Kat Martin.

Another Good Read

I am a sucker for follow ups - spin offs - etc., I enjoy characters that have been introduced in one book and his [or her] story is in a follow up -- such was Rand Clayton, Duke of Beldon - tantalizingly introduced in Wicked Promise and his story was spun out in Perfect Sin [of course for which he paid]-- I really like finding out the progress of the characters from the previous books, as I did like Nicholas Warring----- As for Caitlin, she bombed out with all of the other females. The story was intriguing and not boring or dull -- The Villians -- not to be underestimated but [chuckle, chuckle] they did bite the dust. Altogether, worth reading again!

Perfect Sin

I have been waiting for this book ever since it was hinted that the Duke of Beldon would have his own story. I wasn't disappointed. I could not put this down. I had tears in my eyes by the time I finished that last page. I am sorry the book came to an end. I just wanted it to go on and on and on......Lets hope Kat Martin writes like this forever. I have ALL her books and have re-read these over and over again. Never disappointed.

Kat Martin at her BEST!

I read this book in one day! I couldn't put it down. Cait and Rand's story is a "true" love story told by a master - Kat Martin. Keep up the great work!

love+passion+island magic= Great Romance!

Perfect Sin, Kat Martin's latest book, is one of the best she's ever written. Rand Clayton, the Duke of Beldon, immediately falls in love upon hearing the sensual, feminine laughter of a stunning American redhead at a glamorous ball. Her name is Caitlin Harmon and she is the devoted daughter of Professor Harmon, an archaeologist who's spent most of his life searching for the most valuable and elusive ancient treausre of that time: Cleopatra's necklace. It turns out that Caitlin and her father are in England to seek patrons to finance their journey to the exotic but hostlie Santo Amaro Island off the coast of Africa, where the necklace is rumored to be buried. This book is excellent. The passion ALWAYS burns hot and heavy between Cait and Rand. Their love and powerful attraction towards one another keeps the story flowing smoothly and makes their characters come to life. The sultry backdrop of the exotic Santo Amaro island is also a refreshing new setting where Cait and Rand are able to test the limits of their passion. However, Perfect Sin has a couple of extremely sad and disturbing moments that are not evident in other Kat Martin books, but Cait and Rand always manage to keep hope alive with their awesome romance and love. This romance was so well written that I found myself absolutely captivated with the man Rand becomes towards the end of the book. Every woman who reads this would fall completely in love with Rand, especially after what happens on the island under the "X" trees. Want to know what happens next? Buy the book and find out! I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
