A good primer for less than a cheap box of ammo......

Although a little dated by now, this book is still quite informative. Unless you are in law enforcement in some capacity (and even then!), I am quite confident that you will learn some very crucial information regarding what you can and can't do regarding purchasing, possession, carrying, civil disability, etc. of firearms in Pennsylvania and under U.S. federal law. It was also interesting to discover what a crazy and confusing collection of laws is created by the ebb and flow of pro- and anti-gun legislation over time. If the author was interested, I would suggest that he update the book, and perhaps get himself and others to produce similar books for other states.
Excellent Guide to Pennsylvania Gun Laws

This book provides detailed meanings and interpretations of Pennsylvania's Act 17 & 66. The first half of the book is in a question & answer format that gives detailed and concise information to common questions of what you are allowed and not allowed to do relative to Federal and Pennsylvania gun laws. Questions and answers follow a logical order of progression. Topics cover such things as what is allowed for home defense, concealed handgun permits (rights and restrictions), firearms transporting, some hunting laws relative to handguns and firearms permits, discussions of assault weapons and high-capacity clips, and more. Much anecdotal and some case law is cited. Research sources include attorneys versed in gun law, law enforcement (BATF, and PA State Police) and gun rights groups such as the NRA. The author conveys a wit and humor, which spices up some potentially dry information, but with a refreshing absence of pro-gun propaganda, common in so many gun information books. The second-half of the book contains the verbatim Pennsylvania and Federal guns laws written in "legalise" which are more clearly explained in the first half of the book. This book is a must-have for anyone in Pennsylvania who owns a gun or possesses a Pennsylvania firearms permit. I have found no other books like it with this breadth of knowledge. I personally would like to have seen some more questions and answers given as not all of my own questions were answered. Although only a first edition, it has provided far more information than I could ever hope to receive from the local Sheriff's department.
