"Peculiar Passions" is a lively and bawdy romp set during the late 1600s. Elizabeth's mother has died and her prospects are dim because of her father's debts. She gives nightly ministrations in her bed to her maid, and doesn't look forward to marriage. Jack (born Jacqueline) has been dressed as a boy since a young age, and with a wooden phallus completing her disguise, none of the women she beds knows the difference, and in fact, her reputation as a lover spreads and she finds women lining up at her door. Each was given a special locket by her mother, and these lockets want to be joined back together, and events slowly progress to this rendezvous. Jack eventually ends up on a pirate vessel, where her talents as a lover are again in demand. Elizabeth enters into a marriage of convenience and her path leads her to the same pirate ship and to Jack. They find that the two lockets form a single map to the maligned Mermaid Island, but what will they find when they arrive? Full of romance, adventure, and lots of sex (mostly between women), "Peculiar Passions" is a great delight.
