an illustrated softcover book on Jean patou, who "ruled the world of High Fashion in the Jazz Age." This description may be from another edition of this product.
When I opened the package, I was struck by the vivid artwork on the cover. It felt as if I were getting a catalog for a museum exhibition. The book is readable, text flows easily and is filled with a lot of information. The author puts the book in the context of the time period and brings to life Patou as a person. The designs and sketches are superb. This book is a real collectors' item. Anyone who has an interest in fashion should not miss it. If you're not interested in fashion, it's still a good book to have in your home library. I learned a lot about the World War I period and "the women on whom Fitzgerald and Hemingway modeled their heroines." (Quote from the book.)
