#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER - Don't miss the hit streaming series ReacherFamily secrets come back to haunt Jack Reacher in this electrifying thriller from "a superb craftsman of suspense" (Entertainment Weekly). Jack Reacher hits the pavement and sticks out his thumb. He plans to follow the sun on an epic trip across America, from Maine to California. He doesn't get far. On a country road deep in the New England woods, he sees a sign to a place he has never been: the town where his father was born. He thinks, What's one extra day? He takes the detour. At the same moment, in the same isolated area, a car breaks down. Two young Canadians had been on their way to New York City to sell a treasure. Now they're stranded at a lonely motel in the middle of nowhere. The owners seem almost too friendly. It's a strange place, but it's all there is. The next morning, in the city clerk's office, Reacher asks about the old family home. He's told no one named Reacher ever lived in town. He's always known his father left and never returned, but now Reacher wonders, Was he ever there in the first place?
As Reacher explores his father's life, and as the Canadians face lethal dangers, strands of different stories begin to merge. Then Reacher makes a shocking discovery: The present can be tough, but the past can be tense . . . and deadly.
The book had water stains and what looked like mold. Unacceptable condition.

Jack Reacher stories are great but this copy was in poor condition so I won't be reading it.
It just seems.....

It just seems that all of the characters talk and think the same way as Reacher. It was not like that in his first dozen or so books. And I love Reacher's attitude. Assured and knowledgeable. Now, whenever I think of his books it brings to mind the actor in the Reacher Movies. Cruise is NOT Reacher. He never will be and I will never see another Reacher movie with him in it. Cruise is arrogant , small, and in no way ,shape or form is he the right man for the part. Don't get me wrong ...I love Childs books. At lease up until his last few. Not much of a plot but what little there is Child does it well.. And I will still buy his books. But please make each character a little different. And hire a bigger actor closer to Reacher's size .
Too much talking and not enough plot.

My mind continues to wonder as I try to read thru this book. I have read all of the Jack Reacher books and this one I di not like nor did I find any of the characters anything but boring. Shutter up and down and door locked and unlocked. DUH.
Great read. Jack Reacher history.

I've read every Jack Reacher book and this one didn't disappoint. We find out some interesting stuff about his Father. I also just finished "Blue Moon" the next book in the series. One tough Mother!
Great book!

In Lee Child's " Jack Reacher " books, the action starts right away ! The reading is easy, continually entertaining, and suspenseful as well. IF you're looking for a no-nonsense action hero, this is one of the many good-guy manly man books. Good guy wins !!!
Excellent read
