Past Imperfect by Crystal Green Silhouette Special Edition - # 1724 - December 2005 Most Likely To series - Book # 6 When she attended Saunders as a student, Rachel James had been very popular. The fun loving attitude she'd put on then was only a mask for the horrible home life she'd experienced. Rachel had been adopted and later when her adoptive parents had their own child, became unwanted. Prof. Harrison had been like a father to her all through her days at Saunders. And he continued to help her after, when Rachel had married and then became widowed. Now the Prof. needs her help in keeping his job, and Rachel turns to Ian Beck, a reporter covering the University scandal. Ian is impressed with all the support the Prof. is receiving from his former students. Rachel intrigues him, and when he discovers that she is troubled by her adoption, which is somehow linked to the Professor, he agrees to help her find the truth. Rachel's story is an emotional one. Ian also rediscovers himself, realizing the sleazy story his editor wants from him, isn't the reporting he wants to do. Ian has the strength Rachel needs to face her past and help her build a future. This was a very nice read and a good wrap up to the series. Most Likely To... Ian Beck is looking for a story while Rachel James is trying to find her past. They come together when Rachel's mentor is charged with helping his students out a little too much and Ian is the one reporting the story for his paper. Rachel always had to deal with being different, being biracial, and always had to deal with losing those she loves. But meeting Ian will finally help break down her walls and bring her past to the present. I liked the book. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer. Yet, I thought the book had good characterization for just a short novel. I would recommend it.
