unusual insight into holiness

it is obvious that the author is an expert on religious and spiritual history. what is so interesting is that he is able to interconnect images with spirituality. Sometimes we love a particular image and do not know why, the author gives us insights on the history of these ikon like images so as to understand why they effect us so deeply. you will not be able to put the book down.
