Af first, she stays away from them, but young Max will have none of that. Through his homemade pictures to her and her cookies to him, a friendship develops. Neither Gill nor Dorie are wanting a realtionship. Gil has been married twice, and Dorie once. Over time though, they can't help but act on the attraction between them. Making no promises to each other, they enjoy each other to the fullest. This book was written with a honest look at relationships. There are moments of extreme sadness, but happiness does win out at the end.
