The most detailed guide I've found for school selection

There's a lot of info in this book, and it's presented in a form that is more useful than the raw data that school districts provide. For instance, scores on standardized tests are given down to the individual school level, and then each school's average is compared to other schools around the state whose pupils have a similar socio-economic class. This tells if the school is doing worse or better than schools like it.The book also contains per-pupil expenditures for each school district. Unfortunately, some school districts are K-12, others are K-6, or K-8, or 9-12, and you can't compare districts that differ radically in the age of the students since spending goes up with age in all districts. All in all, however, a really valuable book if you're trying to find the best schools for your children.
