THE STORY: In the opening scene, two Supreme Beings plan the beginning of the world with the relish of two slightly sadistic suburban wives decorating a living room. Once they've decided on the color scheme of the races, a little concerned that whi
Have not read the book, but plan to. I saw Kathy and Mo in 1989 in NYC, off-off broadway. Never have laughed so hard in my life! I was with a group of women (6 of us) and we made such a ruckus laughing that the usher brought us a note at intermission to meet Kathy and Mo after the show. They gave us signed shirts, etc, and were as funny back stage as in the production. I have a bootleg version of the HBO special and hold "Kathy & Mo" parties every couple of years for my friends who need a boost. The tape is getting old and grainy and would truly love a new one! Anyone who finds it should post a message on this site! Love them, love them, love them and "babe, you look vury, vury, pretty tonight!"

Where is the DVD or Video of the original production "The Further Adventures of Kathy and Mo" that was taped by HBO in the 1980's? PLEASE.... can't they be offered for sale??? What we all need right now is more laughs and this would be 2 hours laughing so hard that tears would be rolling down your cheeks and your sides aching from non-stop laughing.... I know this would be a great item for sale now, because Kathy Najimy and Mo Gaffney have created a second production called "Afterbirth: Kathy and Mo's Greatest Hits" at the 2econd Stage Theatre in New York City, from June 11 to July 11, 2004.
where is the VIDEO

This play, while taking the time to celebrate the joys of feminism, never takes itself too seriously. It points out that, yes, even feminists have their quirks and flaws. But to classify it only as a feminist work is limiting -- yet that's what many try to do.This book is a collection of hilarious skits that make fun of life while celebrating it at the same time. The stand-outs: Syvvie and Maddie, a section about two older Jewish women who decide to fill their extra time by taking some "women's studies" classes at the local University -- only they believe women's studies to be things such as how to sew or making a delicious casserole; Kris and Jeff, a date between an insecure frat boy and a ditzy blonde; and Period Piece, a selection that -- well, you'll just have to read it for yourself.Even if you're not a feminist, this play will still make you laugh. I cannot give it a high enough recommendation. If you liked Saturday Night Live in the good old days, then you'll love this play!
Kathy and Mo - a dynamic duo!

I first saw Kathy and Mo perform "Parallel Lives" on a TV special. Of course it was slightly edited but it was still brilliant nontheless. I kept trying to tell my friends about this show but something always managed to get lost in the translation. Finally, I found this script and I immdiately snatched it up. This is an amazing two-woman show concerning relationships, women, and life. This is a great piece and you should also try to catch it on video. There aren't enough strong female writers/performers out there, but these are definitely two of the best.
