Panky learns a great deal from training William, an unschooled pony, enough that she can accept inevitable changes when her father loses his job. This description may be from another edition of this product.
**The following is from the back of the book, I did not write it** NAME: Frances Mooney (everybody calls me Panky) AMBITION IN LIFE: To be a GREAT horsewoman! Panky can't wait to be a great horsewoman. She's determined to ride William, the untrained pony who has become her friend. At first her teacher says she's not good enough. But after hours and hours of practice, she finally wins the chance to show just how good a rider she can be. And best of all, her father agrees to pay William's board at the stable. What could be better! It's a dream come true for Panky - until a crisis at home spells big trouble. Panky wants to help her family more than anything, but how can she, when she knows it could mean losing her favorite horse - and never riding again? **My Review** Although I liked the first book (Panky and William) in this series better this book was still a fantastic read that outpaces its horse book competition! The author makes the characters likeable and real. I gave it four stars for being a great book but not entirely consistent with the first book in its facts about the characters. It was great to see the main character continue to develop and mature in her relations with her family while also developing her passion for riding. Recommended for 4th grade readers and up.
A story about a girl who runs into all the bumps.

This was a GREAT BOOK! I can relate to Panky. {That's one of the signs you should look out for in a book} I take riding lessons and I'm expecting a horse. This story is about a girl who has a lot of problems, and she still copes with it by making her getaways to the barn. She makes friends and helps friends when she's feeling down. In all I give this book five stars!
