This book is worth the price just for the Surfaces/ Coatings chart

Here's what's in the book: CHAPTER 1- PAINTING LIKE A PRO-INSIDE: Choosing and Using a Ladder; Tool Kit for Interior Work; Preparing Interior Surfaces; Making Old Walls As Smooth As New; A Room Wrapped Up for Painting; The Fine Points of Painting; Painting a Room in Sequence; Completing the Job: Cleaning and Storage. CHAPTER 2 - PAINTING LIKE A PRO-OUTSIDE: Tool Kit for Exterior Work; Diagnosing Paint problems; High-Powered House Cleaning; Preparing the Surface; Painting the House in Logical order; Special Methods for the Outside. CHAPTER 3 - WALLPAPERING FOR EVERYONE: Tool Kit for Paperhanging; Preparing Walls for New paper; Deciding Where to Start and Where to End; A Mess-Free Pasting method; Hanging the Paper; Papering Corners, Doors, and Windows; Stairs, Slanted walls, and Arches; Switch Plates and Other Obstacles; Bordering With Wallpaper; Repairing Damaged Paper. CHAPTER 4 - APPENDIX: Estimating Quantities; A Coating for Every Surface; Selecting a Coating-Interior; Selecting a Coating-Exterior; Choosing a Wall Covering. I could see just from the write-up on wallpapering that I lack the aptitude for doing that. So I was able to determine that wallpapering, in my case, is better left to professionals, without my first having starting and botching the effort, adding to the cost of the professionals having to clean up after me. But the book has plenty of detail to provide the people who are so inclined to do so to be successful in their endeavor. The chapters on painting show me that I can be successful in that endeavor with no major problems. Plus, having served in the US Navy, I have gained plenty of experience while on various "painting parties" (never seemed much like a party to me) with spreading the paint. And as I said in the headline above, this book is worth the price just for the Surfaces/ Coatings chart located in the Appendix, "A Coating for Every Surface".
