Story of a great horned owl

This is a fictionalized look at the lifecycle of a great horned owl from time that it is an egg until it finds its own mate and renews the cycle of life. I found this book to be well written and engaging, and was impressed by the author's illustrations. The illustrations are in fact of two styles: pencil sketches and woodblock prints. These are, however, in black and white. Overall, I think this is a great book for kids to learn about owls in an entertaining rather than technical manner.
