Good, solid entertainment with wry twists to keep it interesting.

Owen Noone and the Marauder is one of the Great American Novels that so many of us want to write. It's straightforward, presents believable characters that the reader cares about, explores themes of home and parents and starting fresh through creation and does this in a sweeping roadtrip, rock and rolling across the country and back. It is a novel of identity, written like a modern-day Gatsby, with the narrator swept up by the enigmatic and charming titular character to become unlikely rockstars (one word intentional), playing simple chords and the words to folk tunes collected by Alan and John Lomax in the 30s: "two kids who wanted to bang on their Telecasters and scream into microphones, to feel blood and adrenaline pumping through every vein, to make people sing along to a nearly dead national song, to make people believe in rock `n' roll. . ." I recommend this novel highly to anyone who enjoys pure fiction that tells the story of all journeys: physical, emotional and relational.

Great book for teens and young adults !

This is a story that pulls you in and keeps you there.The search for who you are and where you are going in life is one that every person must take. The story of these two main characters and the unusual path they take together along with the role of music in this first novel, make it an ideal book to give to your young reader that perhaps has trouble finding books that interest him or is questioning everything at the same time he is championing music that you are sure is not really music; much like parents of every generation have done! A very nice first novel!
