A simply written and practical guide on how to get up when you feel down. A professional psychotherapist explains the techniques he has developed in his private practice--techniques by which anyone can overcome depression.
The other reviewer here, says that Hauck simplifies depression. Hauck does say that depresion is caused mainly by 1. feeling sorry for yourself 2. self blame That may sound simple, but it is important to realize the root causes. Furthermore, each of those two topics could be further elaborated on endlessly. It would also be easy to point out that stress is primarily either caused by anger/depression/anxiety/low self esteem. That does not imply that just because you can look at this in a simplified manner, that the solution is easy to implement (therefore simplistic), quite the contrary. If you felt bad about yourself because you feel it's your fault that you are depressed, that is a manifestation of low self esteem, another topic that hauck covers in another book. I feel this is a great book, you can pick the book appart if you like, or find another book; however I think that what hauck says are the root causes of depression are true. That in no way implies it should be a simple matter in getting over it.

This is master piece from paul hauck based on Rational emotive theraphy RET.If one wishes to find religious truth in psychology this is the book.Paul Hauck boldly states there are 3 reasons why we can't blame ourselves and others anytime, anywhere. They are stupidity ,ignorance and disturbance.Logically we can't say person and his behaviour are not same due to those reasons. This is exactly what Jesus preached in Bible. It is exciting to know modern thinking and religious thinking go hand and hand here.No Dogmatism.Just Reason and Evidence. This is a heart soother for depressed people could a life saver if one grasps this simple truth.
