Great Fantasy World

If you are interested in a unique fantasy world Melanie Jackson has created one. The lutin world is scary and her heros & heriones are a great blend of myth, legend and magic.Dragons, Goblins and Death Fey Oh My!

A Man Part Dragon & a Woman Part Selkie Fight Goblins & Find Love in Sin City

OUTSIDERS by Melanie Jackson is a fast-paced paranormal romance set in an alternate reality where goblins and feys live among modern-day Americans. The hero of this story is Thomas Marrowbone, a fey who is part dragon and who has spent the last 100 years destroying goblins out of vengeance. As fate would have it, he meets Cyra Delphin, a sea-fey who is part Selkie and who has repressed much of her power in order to appear "normal" among Americans. The goblins have used Cyra for their own wicked schemes, and so she partners up with Thomas in trying to stop them. First, I'd like to point out that OUTSIDERS is the sequel to TRAVELER, and includes some of the same characters. I'd advise you to read TRAVELER first to learn all about Goblin Town (including ghastly descriptions of goblins) and the people fighting the goblins. Also, for those of you who don't know what selkies are, I'd advise you to read THE SELKIE by the same author before you read OUTSIDERS, just to better understand Cyra's need for her skin and for Thomas' tears. Now, what did I like most about OUTSIDERS? I liked that its plotline moved fast and kept my attention, letting me finish the book in only a few hours. I also liked Cyra as a heroine: she was strong and witty, and she had great dialogue. Plus, I thought it showed real character when she made friends with and protected a young goblin, even though the goblins are the enemy. Thomas as a hero was a little more mysterious (we didn't learn too much of his background), but he had a fascinating physique and the fact that he resisted being seduced by Cyra was unique. I also liked that he had a dragon living inside him. I hope we learn more about this dragon in later books in the series. What did I like least about the book? Both Thomas and Cyra's powers were less defined and understandable than those of the hero and heroine in the first book. Thomas and Cyra were mixtures of all sorts of different mythical creatures, some not completely described, so it was hard to see a pattern in the magic they wielded. I wanted more understanding of how and why they could do stuff, including what Cyra's moon-spun cloak was used for. But anyway, I still enjoyed OUTSIDERS very much and recommend it to anyone interested in magical, contemporary romances. The world created in this book is fascinating, as are its lovers and their goals. By the way, the series includes TRAVELER, OUTSIDERS, THE COURIER, STILL LIFE, and THE MASTER.

They're BACK!!!

Melanie's Goblins were not content with seeing Detroit City in ruins...they have moved on to bigger fish to fry ... so to speak. They want to blow up a nuclear power plant in the mountains outside Sin City a.k.a. Las Vegas, with the intent of not just controlling the town that never closes, but ALL of California. They figure the radiation will make the sunshine state off limits for humans ... but hey, Goblins never minded a little toxic waste to breathe or eat.Cyra Delphin is of Selkie Blood, but poor lass, has long denied this, because her parents felt the need to hide her true nature. Not only is she part Selkie, she is part Kloka - verypowerful Moon Fey - only she has no idea of the magick that resides in her. What she does know her life is out of control. Well, not OUT of control, but not under Her control. For so long, others aware of her true heritage have manipulated her, and she is terrified to learn the Goblins are behind it. Her fiancé steals her work, claims it as his own, but is shocked she dares complain. Nor does her "Goblin-loving" fiancé see why she should be so upset they are backing his...um, her work...as cause for concern. As she stands up for truth and tries to alert people to the Goblin involvement, her life spirals into chaos. People wish to buck the Goblins control try to use her as a figurehead to spur rebellion, but the Goblins counter by pushing her precariously toward a nervous breakdown. When her ex-fiancé gets married, she ruins the receptions by pushing him into the ice sculpture - all in a bit of payback! Outside, a strange person hands her a calling card. It is from a member of H.U.G. They warn her to leave her home in the middle of the night, without packing, without telling anyone and go deep into the desert. So, Cyra finds herself driving 100 miles from everywhere, in a car that barely should be trusted around the block, let along on this trek where there are no roads and even Jean Luc Piccard would not boldly go. Already having second thoughts about H.U.G. - Humans Under Ground - their purposes and what they want with her, she is totally unprepared for the man she nearly runs down. He appears from nowhere, nearly half-dead ... more to the point, she is very unprepared to discover that Thomas Marrowbone is part dragon! Thomas quickly discovered Cyra is the very special combination of fey - and the Goblins will be after her soon, so he takes her to Jack Frost and his wife Io. After the destruction of Detroit and Io leaving HUGS, they are leading the fey into banning together to fight their own battles.Cyra quickly falls for Thomas ... and the dragon ... and that love will cause her to follow Thomas after he leaves her with Jack and Io. Thomas lost his wife to the Goblins, watched her tortured and killed before his eyes. As such, he has no intention of taking Cyra with him into Sin City, where you must face down the Goblin menace and put an end to their plans. Cyra knows she is stronger than

fine supernatural romance

Cyra Delphin grew up hiding her "Wildside" connection from other people. Her parents feared for Cyra's safety if she revealed her seemingly otherworldly talents. However, as an adult though she tried, the call of Wildside proved too much for the scientist especially when her fiancé Larry stole two years of hard data from research she conducted. Cyra seeks Humans Under Ground (HUG) feeling these individuals will share similar talents with her.Her quest takes her to Nevada where Cyra meets Thomas Marrowbone, a lonely inhuman wizard. As Thomas helps Cyra learn just why she feels so different from humans, they fall in love. However, he has mission to fight the goblins in Sin City and does not want her to come. Cyra will go into hell to help her beloved win.As with TRAVELER, the world of OUTSIDERS is filled with mythological creatures that seem so genuine that the audience will demand Melanie Jackson takes a DNA test. The story line is action -packed from the moment Cyra meets Thomas. That duo is a delightful pair who realizes that with one another they have found something rare and sacred, but duty calls first. Fans of supernatural romances will want to visit the strange world of Ms. Jackson because a visual treat awaits them.Harriet Klausner

Awesome book

Life has dealt Cyra Delphin more than her share of hard knocks. When she tried to make a stand for the truth, all she got was burned and betrayed. Finding no comfort in the ordinary means of solace, she has decided to join Humans UnderGround, HUG, a group out to stop the goblins who run the world. Her flight is interupted when she finds Thomas Marrowbone hurt and needing her help. More importantly, she finds who she truly is and at last finds love.Thomas, like her, is not strictly human. Unlike her, he has not spent a life suppressing his feyness. Together, they embark on a mystical and dangerous journey that will test every spiritual and physical muscle they have. Only with their love can they hope to win, much less survive. **** Who says beauty can't be humorous? Ms Jackson tells a magical love story that is libearally seasoned with humor and is one of the most imaginative worlds created in this century. I can guarantee, you will not find another hero like Thomas anywhere, a man with four natures, one of them draconic. I especially enjoyed Orel, the goblin who rents Harleys. This is the kind of book that will ruin you for lesser novels. ****
