Our Little Secret

I loved this book! Couldn't put it down. Kevin and Rebecca did a great job taking me from one scene to the next, making it suspenseful all the way. Well-written, just a darned good read. Kudoes to Kevin Flynn and Rebecca Lavoie. Ya dun good. Pamela

Very interesting

Read the book in two sittings, couldn't put it down. I grew up in that town and was in High School at the time of the murder. I heard the rumors but didn't believe them. It's an interesting story even if you didn't live there. It makes a good parent want to know more about the lives of their own children!

AMAZING True Crime read!

I read this book in a day, and I never do that! I followed this case a little, but had no idea so much other stuff went on...who knew there was a serial killer in New Hampshire in the 60's? I thought this was just about high school kids who killed a man and almost got away with it. It's interesting, the "review" from the woman who clearly knows the man who did it pretty much puts a big old exclamation point on the story, which is about how people around the killer convinced themselves that it was OK not to tell what they knew, and believed much of the paranoid propaganda spread by the killer's family. If you are from a small town, or know anyone who is, you will really relate to the description of these people, who believe whatever they are told, even if they have proof that the truth is something else. The authors even point that out at the end. In any case, a very interesting story. The killer isn't quite a bad guy, but the victim probably was. In between, the characters of lots of other people are questioned, and their actions examined from all different angles. I really didn't know what to think at the end, except that I really enjoyed the book. It was clearly well researched and seemed pretty objective. The characters came to life and I really felt like I was watching a movie at times. STRONGLY recommend!

I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN!!!

I have to admit, it's not too often that I can't put a book down. I don't usually come across a book that grabs my attention for 298 pages. This book was one of those books that I couldn't put down. I needed to read it cover to cover, and wasn't stopping until it was done. I couldn't stop. I had no idea so much went on in little towns in NH. I was reading every line. I felt like I was reading about a piece of history from the 1960s and 1970s and then suddenly I'm sucked into a time machine and reliving high school in the 80s all over again. I was recreating moments of my high school years that I haven't thought about in a long long time. It was freaky. The main story is disturbing and sad on many levels, but the side stories we're as interesting and disturbing the main one. Each question that popped into my head was answered and the answers were delivered perfectly and timely. At times I felt like I was actually in the interrogating room with the detectives or at a crime scene. It's an amazing depiction of a New England way of life, specificaly a New Hampshire way of life. I thought the story started well and loved how it came full circle to wrap. I was amazed at the detail that was uncovered from conversations and that occured 20+ years ago. I was also fascinated by the police detail and how investigations were handled in 1964 and how they've evolved to present day. I'm mentally drained. Many different emotions have raced through me today. AMAZING READ!

Great Story!!

Another excellent true crime book from Kevin Flynn. Perhaps the co-author, Lavoie, boosted the writing quality. I think the writing here is better than in his previous book. Tough story to cover as it had lots of characters, however, after an hour of reading, I was hooked.
