KJ Sweeney uses his experience and gift of writing here.

I have known Kevin as a photographer, but never knew he was a writer! His intelligence, sensitivity, and passion come out in this book and it captivates you. I would highly recommend it to anyone, with or without alcoholism in your background. It flows wonderfully and doesn't let you put it down!

Great Book!

Young Hal's struggle to cope with the agonies of growing up, becoming a man and keeping his dignity in the face of a dysfunctional family is something one can not experience without feeling fully emotionally involved. This is mainly due to the expertise of this writer, who grabs you by the heartstrings and captivates you until the very last word! I highly recommend this book, and can't wait to see more books from K J Sweeney.

Sweeney let?s his characters tell his story.

I think that Sweeney let's the story build on the exchange of words from his characters. The dialogues between his characters is so strong and real. It's as if you're sitting next to them in a deli eavesdropping on their conversations. Also coming from Irish heritage, I could identify with the underlying essence of the journey the author took me on.

Our Father

This was best ... that I could have spent. I found the novel gripping. It's not a very long book, almost a novella. I read it twice and found it interesting on a few different levels. On a simple point it's a personal talk with a boy as he grows up with father who drinks. On a higher level it really shows the dynamic of a disfunctional family. I would definetly recommend this book to others.

Could be anyones father

I loved this book. The novel is about a little boy, named Hal, who grows up with an alcoholic father. The author does an excellent job of showing us that his father could be anyone's father. The story is written in first person. By writing in this way Hal takes you by the hand, and walks you though this life. It's like he's sharing his secret world with you. I hope to see more from Kevin J Sweeney
