Much of this book revolves around an argument found in the eighth chapter of John. Through most of the three plus years Jesus ministered on the earth there was an ongoing battle with the rulers and religious leaders. Jesus was a renegade type in their eyes since He wasn't raised in an environment that was suitable for clergy or leadership. He lacked the documentation necessary to be seriously considered as someone who had come up through the ranks. As He gained popularity this became an issue that had to be dealt with. His performance of miracles made their position more difficult. Since the miraculous was considered a sign from God their own creditability was being threatened. What were they to do with this Man? This remains the question today as well. What are we to do with this Man?
