Great resource!

For anyone looking to learn about Oracle 10g, start here! Excellent resource for Oracle veterans new to 10g, as well as folks new to Oracle in general. Easy to read - concise and clear. Covers all major facets that you need - database, networking, sql / pl/sql, etc.A must read for Oracle DBAs!

Oracle Database 10g beginner's guide

This book is a great reference document. It is great for a beginner with the use of Oracle and even holds value for people that are looking for a bit of a refresher. The books is well laid out, the check points are handy for training as well.

Wonderful Introductory Book for Oracle Concepts and 10G

This book is a great place to start learning basic Oracle concepts as well as those new to 10G. It starts off at the appropriate Beginning Level and then builds on the concepts you learn in the beginning of the book to take you to the next level. I think it appropriate material for the Oracle beginner. I especially like the Q & A sections (Progress Checks) as it allows me to verify that I understood what the authors were telling me as I went along in the book. Also of major value are the numerous examples given. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn about Oracle and 10G. I also think it could be viewed as a nice refresher course. My kudos to the authors for being able to pass on this amount of information in such a way that even a beginner can understand and follow.

A great place to start learning Oracle 10g

The authors have done a very nice job updating this introductory Oracle guide to cover the most important new features of Oracle 10g (this guide was mostly re-written for Oracle 9i, so the updates fit very nicely). The book includes a very good introduction to the Oracle architecure, which the authors correctly identify as a critical skill. The "Ask the Expert" Q & A topics reinforce key concepts. Also included are "Progress Check" quizes so you can test yourself on critical topics as you read, and a mastery check at the end of each chapter to test your retention.
