Well illustrated introductory treatment

This is an introductory text, and not at the same level as Yariv's books or Rosencher's Optoelectronics or Chuang's Physics of Optolelectronic Devices, etc. However, holding this book will not break your wrist (like Saleh and Teich's Photonics, another good introductory text) and is on a similar level to Saleh, but not as exhaustive.
