My Brother

I have not completed the book yet. I never met my brother. All I had were letters sent to my mother to read. In this book it mentions my brother and it also answers a 35 year old question. To me, this book has brought a part of my brother to me. I have also purchased A Sniper In The Arizona. Thank you Mr. Culbertson..

I'll Never forget January 26, 1967

It was like reliving Tuscaloosa all over again. As I was reading Johns book I could almost close my eyes and tell you what was on the next page. I was there with my face in the sand trying to servive. And I am extremely proud of the way my fellow Brother wrote our story. The reality even allowed me to see the young marines faces that I now will never forget. Thank you john Culbertson for an excellent, excellent accounting of times that should never been forgotten, nor the young Marines who laid down their lives that day. Semper Fi

Fox 2/5 1967

I was one of the original 2/5 marines that was there on operation tuscaloosa. H Co. was on the right and F Co. on the left. After reading this book, it brought back very vivid memories. I can assure the readers it's very accurate in detail.I know everything cannot be put into a book, but the events he describes did take place. I am glad that someone put this operation into words. I wish someone would tell the rest of the story of 2/5 Fox at the coalmines. Thank You Mr. Culbertson

Excellent book, I wasn't there cause i'm 14, but it is a very well detailed book. Very easy to follow. I even read it twice! My friend, Tom Hill wasn't with 2/5, he was in 2/4 aka THE MAGNIFICANT BASTARDS and he also agrees that it is a wonderfull book.

I remember it well. Almost exactly as you've written.

I was a member of the 2nd Battallion, 5th Marine Regiment during Operation Tuscaloosa. I was also in Hotel Company, but I was in the 2nd Platoon. I received my Purple Heart on that sandbar, wounded by schrapnel in my leg. This book brought back memories to me. Memories of being pinned down by the NVA. I remember being in that potato field with machine guns to the left and right of me. Both malfuntioned and I was told to turn my selector switch on my M-14 to fully automatic and begin firing. While we were firing we were also digging in trying to create some type of cover for ourselves because the NVA had each of our locations locked in. After the 3rd Platoon attacked the trenchline and the enemy fled we were freed from that hell. The med-evacs came and we evacuated the dead and wounded. I was among the wounded but was able to remain with my platoon. Just wanted to forward to John Culbertson my thanks for writing about this day. These are several days that I remember, and I often think of what happpened to the others who were there. Would appreciate it if you would forward this message to Culbertson. Thanks.
