Tons of information

This book is a fantastic study guide in some senses and a terrible one in others. I will elaborate on this. This book will in fact teach you most of the methods for wastewater operations. It goes into detail,(sometimes too much) on every process of a basic plant structure. It can help you understand pre-treatment, basic R.B.C., and a little activated sludge. It will take those elements (included is pre-treatment, primary settling, secondary, digestion, disinfection, chemical treatment...) and go into a mass quantity of detail. You will have to sort out what is applicable to your situation, and what is excessive. The equations are very accurate but some are not used by the state on exams, depending on which state you are in. Take into consideration that laws and regulations also differ state to state. Overall though, this is a great reference book and will vastly help you understand the system you operate or are studying. It takes a lot of time to read and is long winded. The information is valuable and can help you troubleshoot your plant. I recommend this highly to anyone who is in need of information on the field.

Drying up this mess.

I work for a small municipal wastewater plant, and used this (and Vol. II) as study material for the Class IV and Class III VA wastewater licensure test. It is: - Informative - Long winded It is not: - Fun to read in the least - A very good reference manual - Very up to date on some things Overall the California State training books are recommended to me by more people than any other training courses. If you're doing this with the correspondence portion, you can get 2-3 "TC's" (2-3 months substitution experience) for at most a month of your time at less than an hour a day.

Wastewater Treatment and God: The Divine Practice of Cleansing Waters

This book was as interesting as it was informative. I thoroughly enjoyed its textual inputs and laughable (yet sidebar) visual anecdotes. The book holds a wide variety of truth, even in the first volume! God really showed up in my life while reading this book. I cannot tell you the ways He has blessed me with knowing the ins and outs of this world's wastewater. The application from spiritual to physical, and then from physical to chemical was amazing. It brought out how God really works in today's crappy lives and "poopy" situations. This book invites you to "come as you are" (pgs. 17 and 264) and that the Spirit of God is welcome "in this place" (pg. 159) and even better, "All organic materials have one thing in common - they all contain carbon" (pg. 20). You see, carbon here is a metaphor for the forgiveness of sins! The main point of this book (although some may disagree) was how a phenom of a God could turn excretion into life. It was just another beautiful allegory of how Jesus cleanses even the dirtiest of dirties. The removal and decomposition of bacteria and dissolved oxygen can apply to anybody's spiritual life. And as my little brother used to say when he was 2: "Mommy, I gotta go numba 2! ... oops... too late!" Would I recommend this book to any and all people? Yes. Oh God yes. On a scale from 1 to heck, I give this theological genius of a scientific tale a standing "heck"! Bravo US Environmental Protection Agency... you simply put the "treat" in "wastewater treatment". God bless readers!
