Sophomore Success

Only You is a companion novel to Suddenly You, the first book by Crystal Hubbard. This book is laugh-out-loud funny and the love between Kyla Winters and Dr. Zweli Randall unfolds beautifully. Kyla, a frustrated actress, goes home to St. Louis hoping to rekindle a romance with Zweli, whose proposal she turned down a few years earlier. Zweli doesn't want to be Kyla's fallback plan, and she has to determine what she really wants before Zweli will marry her. This book reunites the Winters sisters introduced in Suddenly You and it is hilarious from the Sunday dinner scene in the beginning of the book to Zweli's final proposal near the end.

Mrs. Hubbard Did Again!!!

Crystal Hubbard is one of my new favorite authors. I totally love the Winters family. You couldn't help but enjoy the romance between Zweli and Kyla. Mrs. Hubbard has a way of making the characters just leap off the pages. While reading this novel I was totally captivated, so much so, that I felt like I was right there in the midst of all the romance, drama, and comedy going on within the family. She truly knows how to spin a tale, that captures you from beginning to end. Can't wait to read more about the Winters family, their extended family and friends. Another Definite MUST Read!

Entertaining and Exciting

Only You is a fresh, totally enjoyable romance novel by Crystal Hubbard. I usually read more traditional chick lit than straightout romances, but Only You bridges the two genres beautifully in telling the tale of Kyla Winters and Zweli Randall. Kyla is an actress who hasn't found the success she wanted in Hollywood. Zweli is a cardiologist who's broken just about as many hearts as he's healed. Ms. Hubbard writes with bubble and spark and her dialogue between characters is buoyant and illuminating. Sometimes it's what the characters don't say that has the biggest impact with the way Hubbard describes a gesture or a look. Only You is also the second book she's written that features one of the Winters sisters. Her first book is Suddenly You and that tells the story of Kyla's older sister Cady. Hubbard writes comedic scenes with the same skill she uses to write love scenes. With a turn of phrase she can have you laughing out loud, and then later she'll have you putting ice cubes on your wrists to take your mind off the steam rising from the pages when Kyla and Zweli get intimate. I enjoyed Suddenly You but Hubbard cuts loose in Only You and it is a very entertaining and exciting reading experience.

The Meaning Of Romance

Crystal Hubbard not only captures the true meaning of romance in Only You, she does it with unparalleled humor, warmth, creativity, originality and fun. Every romance reader knows that there's a formula to romance novels, but Crystal Hubbard is one of the very few romance writers who successfully stride next to the beaten path not on it, and that's what makes her books so great. Only You is her second book. It takes characters from her first book, Suddenly You, an aspiring actress named Kyla Winters and the man she loves, a cardiologist named Zweli Randall. Zweli and Kyla are beautiful, smart thirtysomethings. Zweli's career is on track. He's a very successful heart doctor, but Kyla is at a crossroads when it comes to her career and her love life. Kyla goes back to her hometown with the hope of rekindling her romance with Zweli, but then her insecurities hold her back. Zweli is no fool and he knows Kyla well enough to know that she might go back to Hollywood or Timbuktu or wherever without a moment's notice. Even when Kyla knows that Zweli is what she wants, Zweli's not so sure. He wants her to be happy with herself because he knows that's the only way she can be happy with him. Crystal Hubbard is so good at getting into the hearts and minds of her characters and bringing us readers into that struggle. I love this book because you get to know the Winters family a little more, you get to find out about Zweli's family, and you get to read a very good love story. The other thing I loved about Only You is the quality of the writing. Crystal Hubbard has an elegant, unpretentious style and an exciting, joyful voice. Her words jump off the page and leave you looking for more. I would give this book ten stars if I could.

Another outstanding book from a fresh new voice

Only You is the second novel by Crystal Hubbard, who is the author of Suddenly You, the book in which Kyla Winters and Zweli Randall are first introduced. Only You is a far different sort of love story than Suddenly You, which is the story of Kyla's sister Cady. Kyla is a very frustrated actress who goes home to St. Louis after not finding the career success she wanted in Hollywood. Her confidence is shot to the point where even though she wants to rebuild a relationship with Zweli, a doctor who she had a little bit of a fling with three years ago, she's scared to. Even though she's crazy about him she doesn't think she's good for him, at least not while her life is in such disarray. Zweli on the other hand makes himself grow up and stop being such a player when Kyla comes back into his life. He never forgot her, and once she's back in town, he wants to make sure that she has a reason to stay. Zweli and Kyla are one of the most interesting couples I've ever read. Ms. Hubbard has a sure touch with realistic dialogue that is clever and colorful. Some of the scenes in this book, like when Kyla goes on blind dates with three men, are hysterical. Ms. Hubbard writes with humor, poignancy and meaning. I really enjoyed this book and I strongly recommend it to anyone who enjoys funny, tender, insightful and intelligent romance stories.
