Beautiful

The imagery of each short poem packs the tiny paragraph with meaning and richness. I read them in no particular order, sometimes reading the same poem over again, and each time I come away with some new impression or something to think about. Buy this book. You will not regret it.

Another wonderful book of translations by Hamill

An anthology of 160 tanka accompanied by lovely block prints from the 17th century. The luminous translations by Hamill capture the feelings of love and longing and make this a volume that you will return to repeatedly. Definitely a keeper!

Little book, lotta emotion

This book is a treasure of little gems. One feels a longing for cold blustery mountains, and a lover who is leaving. Each poem is nice to read and savor in small doses. Its not a book that you can read all at once. I received it as a gift years ago, and keep coming back to it.
