Affected by her father's abandonment of her perhaps more than she realizes, thirty-four-year-old Jesse Walker finds her life becoming periods of drifting punctuated by episodes of flight. This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is the sort of book that grows on you. You read it with interest and afterwards you think, ah...... It's truly lyrical and affects the reader deeply by its rhythm and mood. It captures the pain and denial of loss and its pervasive theme in one woman's life. It examines the fear of relationships and commitments - - always one step short of trust and hope. This is a very good book, sad but hopeful.
Original Short Story even better

This novel is based on the author's short story "Star, Tree, Hand" which appears in a Pushcart Prize Anthology. Something was lost in extending the concise and wonderful narrative of "Star, Tree, Hand" into a novel. The short story is probably one of my most favorite pieces of writing for its originality, poetic descriptions, and hilarious character dialogue. Lynne McFall paints unforgettable, original characters who define "happiness" in a wild ride countering insanity, abandonment, kindness, ironic wit, farming, and sex.
Great Book

This is a great book that takes you through a woman's life of running away. As the story unfold, we learn about her past and find part of ourselves in her. The book makes you think about everyday things that we take for-granted. I reccomend this book strongly for everyone!
