GREAT HISTORICAL ROMANCE

Great Story for those who love a good clean old western romance! Bought around 5:00pm on my kindle and finished it around 9:00pm the same evening I love to read a book that I don't want to put down:)

One True Love

Copper is excited to finally start her new job teaching school, but tragedy strikes the first day. Due to a series of unfortunate events, the school house catches fire and two children fall down and are left in the blaze. Copper is able to rescue them, but in doing so she falls, further injuring a leg that she can barely walk on. The town doctor doesn't know what to do to care for Copper, other than keep her drugged until the wagon train can come through and take her to a larger town and a more knowledgeable doctor. But unfortunately, the train that comes is Josh Redlin's and he is a man that Copper cannot get along with at all. Copper and Josh butt heads until Josh finally lays down the facts to Copper, making her see reason. They agree to stay out of each others way, but Copper is forced to seek Josh out for some minor things while en route. What will it take for her to realize that the one man who drives her crazy is the one that she needs? ONE TRUE LOVE is the third and final story in the Belles of Timber Creek series. I enjoyed getting to know Audrey, Willow, and Copper in the earlier books, but even if you haven't read the series all the way through, you'd be able to read ONE TRUE LOVE without getting lost. However, if you want to know what brought the girls together in Thunder Ridge, then you'd want to start at the beginning. I enjoyed getting to know Copper better, and hearing the story that finally brought her and Josh together, since I saw the sparks in the second book. ONE TRUE LOVE is a delightful story that will not disappoint. Discussion questions are included at the end of the book.

wonderful post Civil War romance

In Timber Creek schoolteacher Copper Wilson has mixed emotions over her two best friends finding love. She is ecstatic that her friends Willow (see One True Love) and Audrey (see Three Times Blessed) have found love with the Gray cousins; but she feels alone as she has no one. Expecting to be a spinster, she vows to be the best teacher in the state of Texas. However, in her first week as a teacher, the schoolhouse catches fire. Copper gets the kids out by going back inside the smoke filled room to escort the last two out, but suffers a serious ankle injury when the porch railing collapses. Unable to walk, Copper is back on a wagon train led by Josh Redlin to see a physician in Colorado who can help her walk. As Josh and Copper travel together, she finds herself increasingly dependent on the wagon master whom she thought she despised. Instead she sees his caring traits and hate becomes love, but she must persuade Josh her feelings are real and not just gratitude. The third Belles of Timberlake post Civil War romance is an enjoyable tale with a strong cast especially the battling lead couple. Copper like her two BFFs was badly affected by the Civil War, but was moving on until the fire. Americana fans will admire her courage while rooting for her and the wagon master to change their refrain of I'm Not in Love duet to I Got You Babe. The countdown from three to one has been a fun historical romantic trilogy. Harriet Klausner

4.5 Stars: Historical Inspirational Western romance: surrendering to God

Copper Wilson's friends and fellow school teachers Willow and Audrey found love after the war, but unlike them, Copper seems destined to spend her life alone. Even worse, Copper's life seems cursed. Nothing goes right and nothing seems easy. When a fire burns down her school house, Copper manages to save the children, but she breaks her ankle in the process. When the local doctor can't help, with a little help from her neighbors, she joins up with a wagon trail headed to Colorado. If anyone can help her, the doctor at Fort Riceson can. The medicinal laudanum helps the pain of her ankle but wagon master Josh Redlin has her fit to be tied. The two of them can't seem to agree on anything. Copper Wilson is a feisty woman with fire in her heart. Rough terrain, rattlesnakes, unknown strangers all pose a threat to wagon trains heading west to say nothing of the Indians who may or may not be friendly. As complications arise on their journey, Copper must increasingly let down her guard, surrendering herself to God and allowing others to care for her. Neither are easy for this independent woman! Could it be that maddening man is exactly what Copper needs? And he her? When the wagon train encounters their worst nightmare, will the two of them have the faith to journey onwards? Will God's love work a miracle in their hearts and the hearts of those they encounter? In ONE TRUE LOVE, Lori Copeland brings faith and love into life's most difficult moments. The third in the post Civil War inspirational romance series Belles of Timber Creek, ONE TRUE LOVE can be read as a stand alone or in conjunction with the other two previous books of the series, TWICE LOVED and THREE TIMES BLESSED. A series of 15 questions at the back proivide a useful supplement for reader and church group discussions. Copper is a most refreshing inspirational heroine with her firebrand spirit and her ability to stand up to life's difficulties and irritations with gusto. Even better, love does not tame her passionate spirit, but rather Lori Copeland matches her with a hero and friends who appreciate her for her spirit. Lori Copeland creates dramatic situations that test her characters' faith, adding to the emotion of the story. Copper's strength of character shows forth in all that she does, even in those moments when just enduring pain is an effort. Her weaknesses and inner fears make her human. Compared to Copper, Josh acts calmly and methodically. Josh is a dependable man with a seemingly endless ability for patience. What secrets lie beneath the surface? One or two hints about Josh's past might have increased the depth of his character throughout the story, but then again, Lori Copeland's narrative focus on Copper throughout most of the story allows other aspects of the narrative to have more effect. Giving away too much too early would have watered down the drama. Indeed, throughout Lori Copeland creates several dramatic twists and turns to challenge her
