One whale of a good looking "older" man - Major Flynn Benning - Flynn Benning runs the Benning Investigative Agency and at 40 years old is not looking to form any attachment with any woman. No marriage, no children - been there, done that. Flynn Benning and his men have been hired by the headmistress of Frances Teague Academy, an all girls school because of some break-ins. She does not think it was the prank of some students. Teresa Stafford, 31 is working there as a cook, although she is over qualified for the job, just to be near and see her daughter, Laura, who was taken away from her 13 years ago. Tess thinks that something strange is going on that 4 of the men teachers are out with a virus and replaced with men who just didn't fit the academic picture. Flynn was too big, too masculine and just too, too . . to be a teacher. He was supposed to be a History teacher and Miss Laura just kept informing him that he wasn't following the precedure of the previous teacher. Until he took the girls outside and approached history differently. Whoa, history suddenly looked better. "Cal", Quinn Calhoun like Flynn appears too military and just did not fit in. Cal took over for the soccer couch and ended up teaching the girls some forms of self-defense. Dang, but the girls started liking their class. [Oh, by the way, Cal is now married and expecting]. He has Sadie still looking for his sister. Wondered what role Sean Murphy played other than he is a computer whiz. Oh yes, he took on the position of computer teacher. Dante Bangino, 30 works as a janitor and is told to find out what Serena Loomis, 36, the math. teacher knows. Serena takes things into her own hands and starts a hot affair with Dante. Someone is apparently tring to break into the main building but has taken nothing. Were they dealing with the killer they had nicknamed "Austin"? Or was there another person -- someone else not related to the murder of 5 years ago? The man killed in Austin was rumored to government connections. Connections of the covert kind, and a friend of Max Larkin. Tess informs Flynn of the unusual open door in her building, apparently holding nothing but old records. But that door is always kept locked. She learns of one of Flynn's unusual talents. The little red-headed Laura was an extremely close friend of Bev Martin and the two were inseparable so Tess was extending a hand of friendship to them. We run into a good foundation to the plot and then [Ugh!] the hormones set in [thought I had finally found a female that would hold out for marriage] well she blew it. Then the plot starts to thicken - Yikes! another senseless murder - our boys swing into action [almost too late] but darn good story evolves. Love the cover - finally a guy that really fits the description - Oh Yeah! Definitely RECOMMENDED -- -M -- Now looking forward to Santana's story in LUCKY'S WOMAN - I belive he was back at home base during this story.
