Not my favorite

This book is set in the Elizabethan period, not my favorite, and I gather it is a rewrite of a very early work. You can tell. While it starts off well, with Ms Chase's trademark humor and fun protagonists, (including a horse), it gradually disintegrates into lackluster plot and repetitive dialogue, and unresolved issues. But interesting to see the development of a real talent.

A DELIGHTFUL HISTORICAL ROMANCE SET IN SCOTLAND! MUCH ADO ABOUT MARRIAGE BY KAREN HAWKINS

MUCH ADO ABOUT MARRIAGE by Karen Hawkins is a historical romance set in 1567 Scotland and London. Is a prequel to MacLean Curse series and the Hurst Amulet series. It is well written with details, depth, page turner, and fast paced. It has wit, humor, drama, romance, sensuality, passion, sexual tension,Scottish lore, touch of fantasy, shady dealings, sassy dialog, espionage, suspense and mistrust. The hero, Thomas, is dark, tall, an English spy, wealthy, fearless, handsome, strong, the Queen's favorite, considered the luckiest man in the world, devoted to England and their Queen. The heroine, Fia, is beautiful, dark eyed, red haired, witty, full of spirit, wants to be a playwright, a Scottish laird's cousin, wants to go to England, loves and collects wounded animals. When she and Thomas meets, poor Thomas has all kinds of trouble befall him. When they are caught in a comprising position, Fia's cousin, Duncan, demands Thomas to marry her and take her to England. Fia,Thomas, Fia's maid, Mary, her husband, Angus embark on Thomas's ship to England. Although Thomas is determined to get an anulment once they reach England, he can not seem to stay away from Fia. He is deeply attracted to her as she is to him. Fia's wit, quick charm brings mayhem to Thomas' life. Everytime Thomas sees Fia he burns with desire. Fia has the same burning desire, wants to remain his wife, strives to be the kind of wife he seems to what. Together, they learn true love, faith in each other, and true happiness. This is a wonderul story of love, patience, desire, and finding what is truly important. I would highly recommend this book. Excellent read!

This is going in my re-read stock of books. I will not give spoilers. I do not like them. The story line set in Elizabethan period is intriguing and very well developed. The characters both primary and secondary are intelligent, witty personalities with dialogues that keep the story line so well paced it never drags. I loved this book - I have one small comment which should not be considered critical - The endings of wonderful books are never long enough for me - I always want the story to continue. --- Thus, I look forward to the stories of other wonderful participants of this excellently crafted story.

The Best Romance Of The Summer

As a huge Karen Hawkins fan I have read all of her books many times over and can honestly say that Much Ado About Marriage has quickly become my favorite! You'll fall in love with the characters. And yes, even the horse, dog and cute little bunny. From page one you can feel the chemistry between the hero and heroine, an attraction that continues on most heatedly throughout the story. It was absolutely charming, witty, entertaining and a page turner. A must buy for romance buffs :] The cover is only the beginning ladies! It is much hotter inside.

Bridget's Review

Reading this entertaining romance is a great way to spend a weekend. I devoured the entire thing only stopping every now and then to go to the bathroom or get something to eat. It's a must read for historical romance fans.
