Book Overview

For Bobby Marks, summer does not equal fun. While most people are happy to take off their heavy jackets and long pants, Bobby can't even button his jeans or reach over his belly to touch his toes.... This description may be from another edition of this product.

Probably my favorite YA book of all time

About a witty overweight young guy facing life’s challenges including his first job. This author made me feel like I really knew the characters. Great story and setting. Give this book to anyone who needs a good story to read.

One Fat Summer, Good or Not?

In this book, i find it amazing on how the main chararter Bobby Marks makes it through his life. He goes through real life punishments as a teenager such as getting picked on and beaten up. He is an amazing child and is a great model for teenagers to read. it will teach them what happens to poeple who go to far when bullying. He makes it through these tough times with his friends and family as do all teens. I gave this a 5 star becuse its a great book and i feel like reading it again and again. also it would help children and teens who hear or read this book what is right and what is wrong.

Best book ever "INTERESTING"

The book ONE FAT SUMMER is one of the best books i have ever read out of the few books i have read. It is about a boy named Robert, he is overweight and ugly. Robert has a friend named Joanie and they have known each other since they were small. They are best friends because they both are ugly. Joanie has a big nose and Robert is overweight so that is why people don't like them. So one summer Joanie goes out of town and Robert doesn't have any friends but Joanie, so he didn't just want to sit around all summer and do nothing. Then he seen a sign for mowing lawns for one dollar. So he went to the guy Dr. Kahn's house and he lied to him and said he was 17 but he was nerves. But Dr. Kahn wasn't really paying him one dollar it went from 1 dollar to 75 cents to 50 cents an hour.Robert was to afraid to tell Dr. Kahn anything becuase he tought he would get fired. So one day he was going to work he seen a truck that said SMITH boys and he tought he was going to fired for the SMITH boys. Then he got jumped and was stripped naked and left in the middle of no were. But as he was mowing lawn for Dr. Kahn he noticed a change in his body. He was losing weight as well as getting muscles. Robert lost about 20 pounds or more just from mowing lawn. Also Roberts best friend Joanie gets a little change.... So if you read this book you will find out what else happens. This was a really good book and makes you just want to keep on ready more and more. I recommend every one and anyone to read this it is interesting.

I couldn't put the book down!

One day I came home from school and my twelve year-old brother had this book, One Fat Summer, on his desk. I picked the book up and the second I started reading it I couldn't put it down. It is truly a book for all ages because at the time I was 16. I also know quite a few adults who enjoyed the book because it reminded them of their childhoods. I grew up going upstate New York to a lake, just like Bobby, every summer. The book helped me enjoy many of my memories while capturing my imagination with its irresistible storyline. If a taste of summer is what you're looking for, read One Fat Summer and take a walk around a lake!

One Fat Summer

In this book young Bobby Marks is an overweight kid. Since he is overweight he is always teased and picked on. He is called names like crisco because he is fat in a can. The person in this book that gives him the hardest time is Willie Rumson. Willie picks on him and also threatens his life. He threatens his life all because Bob got a lawn mowing job and he didn't. This book expresses that you shouldn't make fun of people because they are overweight or have disabilities. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a ten. I reccomend this book to anyone who wants a good laugh. Its probobaly the best book I ever read.

One Fat Summer

This book is fabulous. It is packed with humor, sad scenes and it really makes you think. I could never set this book down once I got started. When you read it you almost feel like you are Bobby. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a funny, true-life kind of book! It is summer time and everybody is happy. No school, and having fun is what summer is all about. This is what everyone thinks, except Bobby Marks. When everybody is having fun swimming and wearing shorts Bobby is not. He will not wear shorts or tank top shirts and he will not go swimming all because he does not want anyone to see how fat he is. Everything is going wrong. Bobby's best friend Joanie moves away and his dad is constantly nagging at him and telling him "Find a job! Stop sitting around and eating all day!" Finally Bobby does find a job, mowing Dr. Kahn's lawn. Dr. Kahn is a rich man who is always pressuring Bobby. Bobby has everything he dosen't want, heat, enemies, fat, and no best friend. Could all of this change and make Bobby really like summer and look forward to the next, or could it go on like the worst thing in the world and never stop? If you read this book I guarantee you will find the answer and really enjoy it.
