One Ball Knitting

This is a great book to use up all your left over yarns. One I will be using a lot.

An easy guide to making better use of 'leftovers' in a modern way

20 stylish designs made with a single ball or skein of yarn makes for an outstanding collection of wraps, gloves, and even jewelry. Knitters know how often a single skein or small ball of yarn remains after a larger project: now there's an easy guide to making better use of 'leftovers' in a modern way. Highly recommended for avid knitters. Diane C. Donovan California Bookwatch

Comprehensive and Complete!

WOW! I was clearly impressed with this book and found that the patterns were unique and impressive. I am always interested in crafts that challenge me and this one clearly did! Not only are all the patterns, and I mean ALL--made with only one ball which include hanks, skeins, and spools, these creative designers have incorporated a large range of styles and techniques for unique designs. There are 20 stylish designs in this book and a nice section with illustrated knitting techniques that complete this book. One Ball Knits has stylish patterns ranging from belts, hats to lace and cable scarves as well as some projects that I didn't know could be made with only one ball--such as a cable poncho, lace wrap and twisted knit bag that has a very designer look. There are a wide variety of cables and lace designs as well as felting and bead work. There are two very stylish jewelry patterns, the "jhumka" (chandelier earrings) with a matching necklace and the "panja" which is an Indian hand jewelry. That was something new to learn. I never knew that one book can teach me so much about knitting with only one ball! Really you have to see this book to believe it!

Great Book at a Great Price!!!!

This book is great with original designs!!! I was sooo surprised at reading the one star review, as I grabbed my copy and HAD to write a review. I just got through showing my friend this book, that I was surprised I was reading a review of the same book. This book has instructions from A-Z, that's right us beginner knitters, no need to go and get a reference guide when making patterns from a knitting book. Furthermore, I found unique designs such as jewelry pieces (yes I was surprised myself) to a spicy red handbag. It was shocking to see how I could make a ribbed poncho from just a ball of yarn. I found designs for all skill levels, so once I accomplish the beginner, I hope to go on to the intermediate and experienced designs. It is basically a great book on- the- go that will teach you knitting as well as take beginner knitters to an experienced level with easy to read patterns and graphs. Sometimes I wonder if other people who write outlandish reviews are common people like us or have other intentions in mind... please--just don't get us off the right track. Guys, buy this book and see for yourself!!!

A Book for Every Knitter

I have a weakness for buying yarns that are beautiful and too lovely to resist...and then I let them sit around, because I don't have time to use them. Then, I ship the yarn off to one of my more dedicated aunts, and let them enjoy the beauty of it all. BUT!!! Having found this gem of a book, I can finally just buy a couple balls of yarn at a time, and quickly knit them up for a simple, yet gorgeous creation...which I can keep or even be generous enough to gift! The patterns in this beautifully illustrated book are well-written and easy to follow, and very tempting to attempt. I no longer have to store yarn and gaze longingly at it, wishing I had time to knit them all up, which, needless to say, is really nice. The book starts by discussing the basics and terminology of knitting, and talks about the tools needed. It gives recommendations on how to substitute different yarns from the ones used in the patterns. The patterns include some interesting jewelry pieces, belts, socks, handbags, and quite a few very interesting capes/shawls, which I am most eager to make. Very rewarding book, and I will be recommending this to all the former knitters in my life, who have given up knitting due to time constraints. This book promises to get us back on the path to knitting. Excellent for beginners and novices alike.
