Howard Berger wrote a fascinating book here. He's combined hockey with life on the road. Those looking for pure hockey (Dick Irvin books, etc.) might feel disappointed, but they're missing Berger's aim here. Life on the road is indeed drab at times, and more than anything, Berger conveys more humanity than most sports books I've read. I enjoyed it immensely. My biggest criticism is the book would've benefitted from a proofreader.
An amazing, insigtful, fun read

Ths book is the chroicle of a man living a dream. His ethusiasm for the team, which is what makes him such a great Leafs reporter (for Toronto Sports station The FAN 590) coms ut prectly in the book. I wish that I had a chance to do someting like he does, but reading the book brings it really close, which is great.
A fascinating journal masterfully written.

In this book, Howard Berger gets to do what many fans, I included, wish they could do, follow their favorite team on the road. Having this take place in the lockuot shortened season only makes this that much more interesting, despite losing the visit to my hometown. The players reactions to this unique situation, and having the book be much shorter, contribute greatly to it. This book gives the players personalities, making them understandable regular people who merely happen to play in the NHL. These players, especially Doug Gilmour, have a side of them shown that we, the regular fan, don't get to see This also provides an interesting introspective of the author, Mr. Berger, and his life as both a fan and a journalist. And the details make this absolutely spellbinding, having us feeling that we are there with him. This book is a definite must read for anyone who is interested in being a professional hockey player, a journalist, or just a fan.
