great game

if a very good game, if you finish the game and you get all the starts you can change other settings. it's a great game, and time killer. it will not bore anyone.

Extremely helpful to help find all those star coins, also an enjoyable read

This guide is very helpful for those players who wish to find all the star coins and are just having trouble finding some of the secrets. Certainly, some of the fun is experimenting and finding the secrets but there are some that are so "tricky" (for lack of a better word), that the book can save hours of hunting. The book also gives some hints and strategies albeit not quite as detailed as may be needed at times. Additionally, the world 8 Bowser castle (the very last one) instructions are a little difficult to follow albeit the player must flip the castle several times during the course of play and that can be difficult to describe. The pictures are very good; my only caveat is that the pictures in the book do not display where the enemies may be thus during the course of play, even when following the book, an unwelcome surprise enemy may appear unexpectedly. Still, the player has to do SOMETHING on their own! All in all, this book was extremely helpful in guiding the player to some of the secrets. The sections other than the walkthrough were an enjoyable read. Likewise, the mini games are described as well as the Mario versus Luigi game. Noteworthy, the mini games can be played with more than two players. Finally, the beginning of the book has a description of the enemies encountered and the potential havoc they wreak. Hints are given regarding some of Mario's advanced moves such as wall jumping, ground pounds, triple jumps, et cetera. The descriptions of the enemies were cleverly written and included such alliterations as nautical nightmares, piscine perils and bulbous beasties. These enemies are well described and fun reading. Some of the secrets to acquiring the several different available toad houses are also revealed. Packed full of information, the book definitely seemed worth the price.

Must have for the game!

Love the book! The book tells you things that you just couldn't figure out right away. It tells you how to open worlds 4 and 7, it tells you where to find everything. This is the best players guide I have ever bought.

A Good and important guide if you want to beat the game.

This is a very tremendous guide. It has all the details for the game like where to get all the gold coins, beat all stages and go to the right route to beat the Bowser in Bowser's Castle. This book has it all. I beat the game completely (including gold coins in each stage). Totally recommended.

A Super Guide to a Super Game

Let's be honest here, this is Super Mario Bros. The need for a strategy guide isn't very high. However, for some of the moments in the game, it can really help. There's nothing this guide doesn't have for you. It's just as detailed as it can be. Nintendo Power is known for making fantastic guides to Nintendo games. This is no different. By the flip of the first page, it's easy to see just how detailed this guide really is. Starting off with those game basics that you can actually find in your instruction booklet. There are advanced tips for advanced gamers, but really, this is Super Mario. A game with a style of gameplay so simplistic that a game basics section such as the one provided here isn't needed. The walkthrough is where the bulk of the guide is. The walkthrough is no different than most Nintendo Power guides. You're provided with a full map of each and every level. On each map you'll see numbers and symbols that correspond accordingly. So if you see a number 7 on the map, look for the number 7 and read the text next to it. It's an easy formula to follow. Some maps, from time to time, get confusing to follow. This mostly occurs when you're told you can go down a certain pipe. The maps are linked together by numbers, and they're not called out in huge font like the numbers are. Still, it's relatively easy to follow. The walkthrough doesn't lead astray. It's perfectly detailed, but be warned that this is not a walkthrough where you can read the text alone. You'll actually have to look at the maps when using this step by step walkthrough. In order to figure out what they're talking about. The maps pinpoint out all the items, hidden blocks, switches and just about everything else you can think of. The maps are also drawn to the point where all the symbols don't get in your way. You'll also be able to find all the secret exits using this walkthrough. It also explains how to access world 4 and world 7 (though it isn't clearly pointed out in the walkthrough, it's actually in the section entitled "The World Map"). No stone is left unturned here. It's an easy to follow walkthrough and has all the info you'll need. The quality of some screenshots could've used some work though, as some of them are quite blurry. Still, for such a simple game, you might not need this guide at all. But it does help in unearthing all those neat secrets, and they all get an explanation too. Including the mini-games. So if you're stuck on New Super Mario Bros. this guide is the best resource you can find.
