O Foolish Galatians: Book Three in the Pfeifferberg Chronicles

O Foolish Galatians is a novel about a noble Bohemian family. Sojourning in the Roman province of Galatia a first-century athlete goes on a pilgrimage to see one Jesus Christ, said to be with his disciples traveling near the Sea of Galilee. The firstborn son of this athlete becomes an academic acquaintance of Saul of Tarsus. Through a series of providential circumstances, this noble Christian family migrates to the Roman province of Noricum. In the Roman-built city of Aelium Cetium, the family faces persecution for its Christian faith. In the seventh century, a deacon confesses his secrets. During the Crusades, Ritter Lubricious Pfeiffer von Pfeifferberg, a friend of Marco Polo, serves as a manager for the Grand Master on Knight's Island. Through the Medieval Period, Islam spreads through eastern Europe but is halted at Vienna. Loyal to the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, Pfyffer knights from Switzerland and Pfeiffer knights from Austria unite in Innsbruck to execute a Papal Bull: they wage war against a new foe, Bohemian Reformer John Huss. The novel closes as an eighteenth-century German farmer is curious about his ancestral roots-and sets out to investigate. Book jacket.
