Choose QUALITY Vitamins

As a family physician who regularly recommends nutritional supplements to promote health and wellness, I am really impressed with the quality and quantity of information presented in this book. I particularly appreciate the creation of a "Blended Standard" benchmark that incorporated the expertise of a panel of clinicians and researchers. Although the writing shows thorough research and understanding of science, both consumers and health care providers will find the book useful and easy to read. THANK-YOU Mr MacWilliams for a great book!

A Valuable Resource for Anyone Concerned About Their Health

As a longterm consumer and a distributor of nutritional supplements, I like to know objectively what I'm taking and recommending to others. The Comparative Guide is a great educational tool and reference book that helps me to know that what I am using and recommending is a quality product based on the most current scientific research and is a good value. It is shocking that some of the top names in vitamin products are so deficient in the vital nutrients for which they charge trusting consumers so much. More consumers should read this book before consigning a major health decision to the best infomercial celebrity or salesperson who comes along. By the way: I bought the first edition of this guide when I was a USANA distributor, but have since used MacWilliams' recommendations to choose an over-the-counter product that is of comparable quality but at half the price (and suits my body better). So I don't buy the argument that this is all an elaborate sales tool to sell to USANA distributors and slam all the others. Those interested in their lifelong wellness need to be educated consumers of nutritional supplements so they don't waste their money on products long on hype and short on substance. Caveat emptor! (Let the buyer beware!) Buy this book and share it with friends and loved ones. If you only could buy one book to help you understand the complexities of optimal nutrition, this is the volume to have.

an excellent guide for consumer

This is an excellent guide for the consumers to choose quality supplements. It gives ratings (1 to 5 stars) to more than 1500 multivitamins in North America. Supplements from Kroger, Walgrees and costco, etc get a very low score of their products. I'm suprised. I highly recommend this book to someone who is taking supplements or considering taking supplements.

Nutritional Supplements book

My daughter had the earlier addition of this book and I was impressed with the information provided. I think the author tries to give a factual summary of each product in an unbiased and fair manner. It gives the consumer an overview of each product so you know the quality of the product you will be choosing to use. I feel that it allows me to make a much more informed decision on my supplements.

Surprised to find that this book is very interesting to read

I really love this book. It is not simply a list with ratings, but a compilation of scientific information regarding supplements and how they effect our health. The NutriSearch team also discribes in detail the evaluation process they used and what the sources are for the standards they measured against. In addition, there are references to the Nutrisearch website which provides even further scientific information. I also find it entertaining that some people would consider this book biased after evaluating the science? Could NutriSearch be so reckless as to make unsubstantiated claims that could only bring them huge lawsuits from major companies that have low rated products (like Centrum and One-a-Day)? For some of the previous sour grapes who don't like where their products rate, why not follow the science and select a product that at least has a five star rating. And take the time to actually read this informative book!
