. A fantastic story about my life growing up in the South during the 50s. Life was so different then, almost easier when compared to life today. There was a family friend that I spent a lot of time with, watching her polish her white nursing shoes. She was an emergency room nurse and told me many stories. She loved her job, and that's when I realized I wanted to be a nurse. I made this decision late in high school; I had to attend the summer after I graduated to take chemistry. I loved the school I chose, the people that became friends and classmates, and the nurses that taught us how to become good nurses, although most nurses are deeply rooted in the desire to care for patients and their families. This book has many funny parts and some truths about my life. I hope you find it interesting and enlightening and better understand what nurses do and why they love their jobs. Amy Jeannette
