The Roman Republican coinage and its penetration into Dacia has held the attention of Romanian historians and researchers as far back as the last de-cades of the 19th century. The issue has been the subject of severa studies and of several catalogues and articles with purely numismatic content. Never-theless, it is true that, at the beginning, due to the scarcity of hoard dis-coveries or to the lack of information concerning collections of coins, sorne regions of Romania, e. g. Muntenia and Moldova, seemed to have far less historical traces than Transylvania, Oltenia or Banat.
