What a cool little book! Yes, the arithmetic is simple, the statistics are futile, but all in all this book just made me smile. Who really cares how long it will take for America to eventually collide with Japan? When you reach the answer, you'll discover you don't either. Take this book for what it is: a little jaunt packed full of sarcasm, silly statistics, and the occasional thought provoking statement. Lots of fun, though, unless you take yourself WAY too seriously.
An engaging study.

You'd expect the topic to be statistics with a title like NUMBER FREAKING: HOW TO CHANGE THE WORLD WITH DELIGHTFULLY SURREAL STATISTICS: not so: in fact, it has nothing to do with accounting or statistics. It's a compilation of 'absurd arithmetic' and covers everything from calculating how many people on Earth are drunk in a given moment to wondering if America will eventually collide with Japan, or how many lightning flashes there are every year. An engaging study. Diane C. Donovan California Bookwatch

This is a good book for those of us interested in things that really aren't going to change the world. How many flies do you need to balance the scales with an average male? How many eyeballs are on earth right now? I found this book fascinating!
