Book Overview

"Like Siberia itself, this story is wild, mysterious, full of danger--and then, quite unexpectedly, captivates you with its beauty. I was so glad I went on the adventure." --Goldy Moldavsky, New York Times bestselling author of Kill the Boy Band

Notes from My Captivity is a sharp, sensitive, and darkly funny novel perfect for fans of Libba Bray's Beauty Queens and Adam Silvera's More Happy Than Not.

Not what I was expecting.

I really didn't like how this became more of a romance that was never going to happen, instead of a survival/captivity book.

From Annoying to Amazing

I’m going to be brutally honest; I truly despised the main character, Adrienne, at first. She was bratty, a know-it-all, and in general just plain rude. Now, I get that she had a difficult childhood yada yada, but that doesn’t give her an excuse to be a... you know. Anyhow, events unfold and it’s thanks to getting a good slap of reality to the face that her character is saved. No longer is Adrienne being a little b~ because she’s too worried about saving her own life to worry about keeping up her childish attitude. It’s thanks to these gruesome, page-turning events that Adrienne becomes an even likable character. I would say that this story is more plot-driven than character-driven, though, as it was all about the story of being stranded in Siberia that got me hooked in the first place. Not to say I didn’t like the characters (my favorite had to be Lubyov, the Hulkishly-strong Russian Lady who while on the expedition was obsessed with Fifty Shades of Grey.) Violently shocking at times, this was a read that I tore through in all of a night. If you like those action-filled survival stories with a hint of romance, like The Hunger Games for example, I would highly recommend Notes From My Captivity.
